Have you ever thought of learning Spanish on line but never had the time and right opportunity to do it? You don’t need to worry about “how” to actually do it but what you want to think about twice is if you really have the dedication and interest to learn the Spanish language. Learning for adults does not come easy any longer compared to how children and teenagers learn. This is true because there is a certain point and range of interest and learning skills each age group has and as a person gets older, the ability to learn depreciates. Think about young children, learning a different language to them is as easy as learning A,B,C’s. Now the next question comes to mind…how do I learn a foreign language fast? We all know that it takes a while to learn new things. It also takes great enthusiasm and interest over something to be able to learn it well and apply it to normal day to day activities. Also, a good memory is built from a vivid event. Findings show that we tend to store in events or images that have a strong impact towards the senses in our memory. This is also why it’s recommended to imagine silly and outrageous images in learning foreign languages because the words can be easily remembered this way. A human brain can certainly not erase these images. By now you should be able to realize that whatever you have seen, ever since you were small, is all still registered in your brain. So the next time you see something familiar, be aware that you haven’t completely forgotten what it is or what it is for, but just that the image might not have been too interesting at the moment you saw it. In turn, you didn’t alert your attention as you were absorbing it to your brain. So to give you an example how pictures can create an impact in learning a foreign language, we’ll take the English word morning and mañana in Spanish as an example. Let’s suppose you have a friend named Manny. Imagine this sentence as it happens: Every morning, the postman delivers mail and packages to houses with family names of Manny in a successive order. By associating the words in a scenario as you imagine it happening makes it a lot easier and fun to learn the Spanish language.

Making the decision to learn Spanish is one of the most important decisions you will make when choosing a second language to learn, popular culture dictates this and the increase in the number of Europeans and Americans now studying the language bares witness to the fact that having the ability to speak Spanish is not only required for easier co-existence in our modern multi racial society but also that it is very much in demand to smash through the barriers in the business and commercial worlds.
The interest in learning Spanish has developed through the many professional opportunities that are now opening up to foreigners and also because of the popularity and affordability of travel that has created a hunger for a better understanding of Spanish and Latin American culture.
The challenge for many people is not only that of learning Spanish but of understanding the culture and it is for this reason that immersion courses, previously only appreciated, as a rule, by college students, have become increasingly popular with a much wider cross-section of people.
Immersion courses are a fantastic method of exploring the Spanish and Latin American cultures whilst learning Spanish – a very hands-on application to learning that is both exhilarating and gratifying, a busman’s holiday if you like. There is now a great deal of choice available to the individual, who can now learn Spanish whilst shepherding a group of llamas in Chile (possibly not the most chosen method of learning, but some choose it) or, perhaps whilst drinking a cafe solo on las Ramblas in Barcelona; with courses available in most, if not all, Spanish speaking countries the choice is amazing.
But not everyone has the opportunity or the spare time or, perhaps even the desire to take advantage of this wonderful way of learning Spanish and for those individuals, learning Spanish has to fit perfectly with their hectic timetables. Spanish language learning software is the perfect solution for this specific group of people, which, I hasten to add, is a far bigger group than those who take the immersion course route. These software packages permit individuals to learn at a pace suited to them and that are easily blended with one’s timetable, again, as with the immersion courses the choice is large and caters for all abilities…. and wallet size and these courses are regularly supplemented with the use of verb training software programs such as the Verbarrator, which are extremely useful when trying to master irregular Spanish verbs!
There are several recognizable brand names like Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur which are, of course, of excellent quality but which are also , in most cases, too pricey for most people. There are more affordable options and occasionally, a real diamond is found, but as the old saying goes, ‘you get what you pay for’. However, the increased popularity of the on-lineSpanish course has provided an affordable alternative, thus providing affordable quality by eliminating production costs, one such course that should definitely be looked at is Rocket Spanish, although ‘Visual Link’ and ‘Learning Spanish like Crazy’ are also good courses that are worth a look at.
Whichever method you choose it should always be rembered that, although the language will never change, the styles of teaching can, and finding the course that fits you best will make the difference between pigeon Spanish and conversational Spanish; learning Spanish, regardless what you may have been told, is neither hard nor boring and if you are using a Spanish course to be either of those I am sorry to say that you have chosen the wrong one…so always make sure that you have chosen wisely.
